Jakarta, 12 March 2025 – The ASEAN Capacity Building Workshop on Compliance Monitoring and Surveillance in Offline and Online Markets was held virtually over the past two days, bringing together members of the ASEAN Committee on Consumer Protection (ACCP) and officials who lead product safety monitoring from Member States and Timor Leste.
Organized by the ACCP and delivered by the UK Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), the workshop provided participants with insights into this aspect of the UK’s regulatory approach to product safety. Experts from OPSS shared best practices and case studies on monitoring and surveillance methods to assure and enhance compliance, equipping ACCP staff with practical knowledge to plan for effective monitoring and surveillance.
This initiative is part of the consumer protection technical assistance activities under the ASEAN-UK Economic Integration Programme (EIP) 2024-2028, through the Regulatory Reform Pillar implemented by OPSS. By enhancing the capacity of consumer protection authorities, ASEAN reinforces its commitment to safeguarding consumers and ensuring safer products in both offline and online markets.
