Malaysia , 15 April 2024
PUTRAJAYA – The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) organised
the National Consumer Day (HPK) Year 2024 which is celebrated with World Consumer Rights Day today.
It is held March 15 every year and this time it is themed Consumer Power: Facing the Reality of the Age.
This year's HPK celebration is in line with the ministry's goal of moving the big agenda of responsive consumerism with current demands and challenges ahead, said Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.
"The selection of this theme also coincides with the transition to the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era and the digital economy which is focused on various types of technologies such as Fifth Generation (5G), Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence.
"Among the objectives of the National Consumer Day 2024 is to further enhance advocacy and education on the rights and protection of consumers from various cybercrimes such as online fraud, phishing, misuse of networks and technology as well as fraud/falsification of online trading," he said in a statement today.
Today's program is also a continuation of the Consumer Empowerment Care Session (3P) on 20 February 2024 which has provided a platform for stakeholders to provide feedback and insights to improve the framework of the National Consumer Policy 2.0 (DPN 2.0) and Consumer Action Plan 2030 (PTK 2030).
"KPDN is confident and believes that the active involvement of the consumer movement with the meaning of 'consumer power' will have a major impact in creating a national revival, through a whole of nation approach in realising the Government's goal of preserving the interests of consumers and addressing the cost of living issues of the people." he said. – MalaysiaGazette
